What are the widely used teeth whitening techniques?

  1. Whitening Gel

This is the most widely used teeth whitening treatment. It is very simple and can be done in just one visit to the dentist's office. The teeth are thoroughly cleaned before starting the procedure. Next, a whitening gel or a bleach is applied to the teeth and spread evenly. The gel removes the stains from the surface of the teeth. The procedure can be repeated several times, depending on the degree of staining on the teeth and the level of whitening the patient prefers.

  1. Whitening using plastic trays

This process usually requires two visits to the dentist's office. During the first visit, the dentist takes an accurate mold of the teeth. It will be used to make a custom tray out of clear plastic. During the next visit, the trays will be checked for fit and any adjustments, if needed, will be made. A special whitening solution has to be used with the tray, which will help remove the stains. The trays will have to be worn twice a day for 30 minutes, or they can be worn overnight as well. The procedure will have to be repeated for a few weeks depending on the staining of the teeth and the desired level of whitening preferred.

  1. Laser teeth whitening

It is the most advanced whitening treatment. First, the teeth are screened for any vulnerabilities such as receding of gums, cracks on the teeth, any filling applied, etc. A guard is used to prevent the seeping of the whitening solution to the gums. Next, the whitening solution is applied to the teeth. A laser is used to activate the whitening gel, which then produces a foam. The stains are removed from the surface of the teeth. The gel is allowed to stay on the surface of the teeth for a few minutes before it is removed. Laser teeth whitening is one of the best procedures available to get whiter teeth. The best part about it is that it can be completed in a short span of time.
